Pre-open flash-sell on ES, bear trap under extreme toxicity

Bear signals aligned, but Toxicity 78 rising and bullish divergence invalidate the short entry.

Market context

US cash pre-open (RTH opens in about an hour). ES prints an aggressive selling wave pushing Flow Pro to z:-2.3 in 30s. Three sell signals on the Signals column, heavily negative per-price delta (-23, -22, -28 near the LTP). Everything lines up for a short --- except the risk modules.

Column-by-column reading

01

Toxicity Pro

TOXICITY 78 (flèche montante)

EXTREME reading with a rising arrow. Kyle's Lambda + VPIN toxicity is spiking, meaning the order flow is increasingly informed and hard to absorb.

  • --Central readout 'BULLISH DIVERGENCE': toxicity is climbing while price keeps dropping --- a textbook reversal tell.
  • --Under TOX-M/TOX-H regimes, any directional entry should be avoided until the arrow turns down.
02

Synthesis Pro

WAITING [0%] | FLAT | DON'T TRADE --- toxic flow

The final banner is unambiguous. The Dashboard aggregates every flag and decides: the environment is toxic, no strategy should take a position.

  • --Side flags (FailedSig, Tox Div, Liq Vacuum...) are all grey: no specific trigger, toxicity alone is the kill switch here.
03

Alert Pro

63 bearish | z:-2,3 | TOX-M

Directional score 63 bearish with a -2.3 z-score, well above the alignment threshold. But the TOX-M suffix signals the regime is downgraded by toxicity.

  • --Without the TOX-M tag, this would be an A+ short. The right read: check regime first, then score.
04

Flow Pro

Net: -314 | z: -2,3 (30s)

Heavily negative 30s cumulative delta, z-score at -2.3 (tail event). Flow is massively sell-side on the short window.

  • --An absolute z-score above 2.0 combined with EXTREME toxicity is the signature of a flash, not a sustainable trend.
05

Signals Pro

BEAR | Score:35 | B:0 S:3 | Net:-106

Three sell signals accumulated, overall score 35 bearish. Direction lines up with Flow and Alert but score is still moderate.

  • --Red dots at 7104.25 / 7103.75 / 7102.75, all under the LTP: the system measures downside continuation.
06

Delta Pro

-23, -22, -15, -17, -19, -28, -14 (imbalances bid par prix)

Stacked sell imbalances across 7 consecutive levels with no ask relief. Volume profile skewed to the red.

  • --No iceberg or marked absorption visible here: selling is raw and uncontested --- which is precisely suspicious under extreme toxicity.
07

Absorption Pro

Z:1 POC:1 ABS:0 | 60min | cadre SML a 7106,75

Only one SML (Small) zone active at the top of the DOM. No ML/XL absorption declared. The 60min POC is migrating.

  • --The absence of Medium/Large absorption under a -2.3 z-score is the tell: the sell flow isn't confirmed by size.
08

Heatmap Pro

Cluster orange 72 a 7107,00 et 48 a 7106,00 (ask wall)

Strong ask liquidity a few ticks above the LTP. On a bounce, there's a potential distribution zone around 7106-7107.

  • --No BID DRAIN displayed: the buy side of the book isn't fleeing, which reinforces the false-breakdown thesis.

The setup mechanics

A pre-open flash-sell is a temporary liquidity shock, often triggered by an aggressive algo or a block unwinding before the cash session. Directional signals (Flow, Alert, Signals) mechanically react to the z-score, but Toxicity Pro measures something else: the informational quality of the flow. When Toxicity spikes to 78 rising alongside, it means the market is digesting a stress --- this isn't information anymore, it's noise. The displayed bullish divergence confirms the modules anticipate a reversion, not a continuation.

Verdict and recommended action

TRAP_DETECTED verdict: do not enter short despite the seemingly perfect signal. The correct action is to wait for Toxicity to drop below 60 with the arrow turning flat or down. A price pullback to 7106-7107 (ask wall) with toxicity cooling off could produce a clean short setup --- but not here, not now.

Rule to remember

An extreme z-score under extreme toxicity isn't a signal, it's a warning: you watch, you don't trade.

Post-mortem validation

Validation by +3 min (14:25:48) and +4 min (14:26:48) screens: price did bounce from 7103.50 to 7110.00 (+6.5 points). Flow Pro flipped from z:-2.3 to z:+2.6 in 3 minutes, Signals from BEAR 35 to BULL 53, Alert from a bear signal to 'BUY 78'. The flagged bullish divergence was factually correct. At 14:26:48, Toxicity cools down to 57 falling and the Dashboard shifts from DON'T TRADE to CAUTION --- the normalization signature. A short taken at 14:22:32 would have been stopped out within minutes.

Trap to avoid: the false twin

The false twin: a clean A+ short also shows negative z-score + bear Alert + BEAR Signals --- but with Toxicity 30-45 flat or falling and Dashboard SAFE TO TRADE. The single distinguishing factor: the Toxicity Pro value and arrow. Never short a pre-open flash without checking this column.
